Catharina Roodzant

Catharina Roodzant - Glimmerveen, known as Catharina Roodzant ( born October 21, 1896 in Rotterdam as Catharina Glimmerveen, † February 24, 1999 ibid ) was a Dutch chess player.

Family

On January 2, 1918 Catharina Glimmerveen married the then 25 - year-old David Roodzant whose surname she took. The marriage produced three children. He died on 27 February 1958 in Rotterdam.

Born 1921 daughter Ivy, 1983 chess champion of Rotterdam, was married to the chess writer and author of chess compositions Henk Mesman senior.

Chess

Roodzant was Dutch Women's Chess Champion in 1935, 1936 and 1938., You played in 1937 (10th - 16th place) in Stockholm, 1939 ( 7th place) in Buenos Aires around the world chess championship of women. At the outbreak of World War II, she returned prematurely from Buenos Aires to Europe.

To celebrate its 100th birthday in 1996 she was interviewed for the sports program of the Nederlandse Omroep Stichting television. She was a knight in the Order of Orange- Nassau.
