Catherine Chislova

Yekaterina Gavrilovna Tschislowa (Russian Екатерина Гавриловна Числова, born September 21, 1846 in Ligovo in Saint Petersburg, † December 13, 1889 in Crimea ) was a Russian ballerina and the mistress of Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich Romanov.

Biography

Ekaterina was the daughter of Gabriel Chi Slow and was early on the Kirov Ballet Ensemble, a world-famous Russian ballet company from St. Petersburg to. She was the partner of the famous Felix Kschessinsky, father of Matilda Felixowna Kschessinskaja, in the Polish mazurka.

In 1865 she fell in love with the Russian Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich Romanov, third son of Tsar Nicholas I and Princess Charlotte of Prussia, and became his mistress many years, even though he was married to the German -born Princess Alexandra of Oldenburg. Yekaterina Tschislowa died unexpectedly on December 13, 1889 in Crimea, and was buried in the monastery in Saint Petersburg as Yekaterina Gavrilovna Nikolaiew.
