Cause of Death is the second studio album by the American death metal band Obituary. It was released in September 1990 on Roadrunner Records. It is considered a classic in the history of death metal.

Formation and style

The emergence of Cause of Death was influenced by the exchange on lead guitar Allen West to James Murphy. He brought a style similar to his previous band Death guitar style with a. The songwriting was in contrast to its predecessor, something more progressive. With Circle of the Tyrants a cover of Celtic Frost was recorded.
