Cautethia

Cautethia grotei, preparation

Cautethia is a genus of butterflies of the family of moth ( Sphingidae ).

Features

The genus includes the smallest moth species in North America. Your pattern is highly variable, making it difficult to secure Artzuordnung. Both pairs of wings are much rounded. The front wings are mottled with a different combination of white, gray, brown and black. The hind wings have a yellow center range and wide, dark brown binding along the outer edges.

The previously known caterpillars have an elongated body that tapers sharply from the fourth body segment forward to the little head. The Analhorn is directed relatively meaty and backwards. The dolls are well built, have a slightly rough surface of the body and a deformed wing sheath.

Occurrence and life

The genus is widespread in the Caribbean and in the northern Neotropics. Two species, Cautethia grotei and Cautethia spuria are detected from the southernmost parts of the United States, at Cautethia yucatana is believed that it is an occasional Irrgast there. Caterpillars have been demonstrated in various types of Madder ( Rubiaceae ).
