Cavagnago

Cavagnago was until March 31, 2012, a municipality in the district of Faido in the district of Leventina in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.

On April 1, 2012, it merged with the municipalities Anzonico, Calpiogna, Campello, Chironico, Mairengo and Osco to the existing community Faido.

The village is situated on a terrace on the eastern flank of the Valle Leventina. Cavagnago Located on the Strada Alta. Together with Anzonico, Calonico and Sobrio forms Cavagnago the so-called Traversa.

In a referendum held in March 2004, the citizens of Cavagnago have adopted the merger of their community with Faido, Osco, Mairengo, Calpiogna, Campello, Rossura, Anzonico, Chiggiogna, Calonico and Sobrio. However, despite the positive referendum Cavagnago could not be considered since all the surrounding communities have rejected the project. The small population and the precarious financial situation meant that the Canton of Ticino in November 2005 appointed a city manager for Cavagnago. Since then, the community has no more executive.
