Cavatappi

The Cavatappi are an italian pasta places.

They are found under the name Amorini, Stortelli, Spirali, Amorosi or Cellentani. The name derives from the Italian Cavatappi cava tappi to German corkscrew ago.

Cavatappi are tubular and mostly longitudinally ridged pasta that are rotated in the form of a corkscrew. The water content is about 12 percent.

The Cavatappi are very versatile. They are eaten with pesto or tomato different, but also cheese sauces. They are also used as a substitute for Macaroni in Nudelaufläufen as well as in salads.
