Cave Stream

The Broken River Cave is a 362 m long cave in New Zealand. It is located on the Arthur 's Pass Road from Christchurch to the West Coast 40 km from both Arthur 's Pass and Christchurch. The cave is a central part of the 16.22 -acre nature sanctuary in Cave Stream Scenic Reserve

The river takes a shortcut here by a hill.

The cave is accessible in summer in warm water and low water level, but quite dangerous in spring and during heavy rainfall. At least two deaths by drowning and hypothermia are occupied. A small waterfall at the end of the cave is equipped with chains as a climbing aid.
