Çaycuma is a town and district of Zonguldak Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. The district lies to the east of the province, bordering Bartın. The city and the county are located at the mouth of Filyos Çayı.

Çaycumas main employer is the paper mill Seka. Furthermore Çaycuma has numerous commercial areas. For two years the Saltukova airport is open to international air traffic. It will take place every week flights between Dusseldorf and Zonguldak.

Current mayor is Mithat Gülşen by the ruling party AKP. He was re-elected on 29 March 2009 with 50.2 % for the second year in a row.

On April 7, 2012, a serious accident occurred in Çaycuma. An old bridge collapsed and a minibus fell into the fast- flowing river Filyos. A total of 15 people are missing, including the father and cousin of the incumbent mayor. Only a few bodies were found. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has promised a new bridge.
