Cayres

Cayres is a municipality with 712 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in France, in the Haute- Loire in the Auvergne region. The town is the administrative center of the eponymous canton Cayres.

Geography

It lies at the foot of the Massif du Devès, a mountain range between the valleys of the Loire and the Allier, about 17 kilometers south of Le Puy -en -Velay. In the municipality spring the small rivers Gagne and Beaume, both draining into the Loire. In the mountains of Devès is a 44 -acre circular maar lake of volcanic origin, named Lac du Bouchet.
