CCP Games

CCP Games ( Crowd Control Productions ) is a company domiciled in the Icelandic capital Reykjavik company which develops online games Eve Online and Dust 514.

History

The company was founded in the summer of 1997. After nearly six years of development CCP in 2003 released their first computer game EVE Online, the market and operates and expands it until today.

2006 merged with CCP White Wolf under the leadership of then CEO of CCP, Hilmar Veigar Pétursson. The companies want to continue to retain their names, but combine their strengths. Thus, the " by-products " to EVE Online, as the collectible card game and a planned pen & paper role-playing game, sold by White Wolf.

CCP achieved in fiscal year 2007 with a turnover of 37.15 million U.S. dollars a profit of nearly 3.0 million U.S. dollars. 2008, about 35 % of the shares are held indirectly by the Icelandic entrepreneur Björgólfur Thor Björgólfsson. Annual sales of 46.5 million U.S. dollars in 2008. Since CCP generates most of its sales in foreign currencies and foreign subsidiaries, the company is of the Icelandic financial crisis hit as hard as other Icelandic companies. However, introduced by the Central Bank of Iceland capital controls could CCP future force them to leave the country.

CCP is planning an online game for the vampire series World of Darkness by White Wolf. The target group of young women between 18 and 25 women are being targeted.

On 29 November 2012, the Museum of Modern Art announced record from March 2013 EVE Online and 13 other computer games for a new design permanent exhibition in the Philip Johnson Galleries. All titles have been designated as outstanding representatives in the field of interaction design. Criteria were in addition to the visual quality and the aesthetic experience of all aspects that contribute to the design of the interaction, such as the elegance of the code or the design of the player behavior.
