Cehnice

Cehnice ( German Zechnitz, formerly Zehnitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located ten kilometers southeast of Strakonice in South Bohemia and belongs to Okres Strakonice.

Geography

Cehnice lies in the hollow of the brook Cehnický creek. To the north of the Na Kremeni rises (430 m), to the east of the V Prádlech (505 m ) south of the Kostelík ( 556 m) and the Radovec ( 635 m), in the southwest of the Bozi muka ( 459 m ) and northwest of the Michalec ( 504 m). The village is surrounded by numerous ponds; north-west lie the RESATO and Velky cehnický rybnik, on the southern outskirts of Třtí. By Cehnice the state road I/22 between Strakonice and Vodňany runs.

History

The first written mention of the village and festivities Cehnice took place in 1342 as the seat of Rudolf von Říčany and Cehnice, considered the progenitor of the family of the Cehnice Říčany.
