Čelákovice

Čelákovice ( German Čelákovice, also Tschelakowitz ), is a city in the Czech Republic. It is located 25 kilometers north-east of the city center of Prague and is part of the Okres Praha- východ.

Geography

Čelákovice is located on the left bank of the Elbe at the confluence of the creek Čelákovický. When the district Sedlčánky the Výmola flows into the Elbe. To the south of the district Záluží runs the route of the motorway D 11, the next exit is Bříství. Čelákovice is a railway junction.

Neighboring towns are Byšičky in the northeast, and Sedlčánky Císařská Kuchyně in the east, in the southeast Mochov, Záluží and Nehvizdy in the south, Mstětice the southwest, Zápy in the west and Lázně Toušeň and Káraný in the northwest.

History

To the 12th century built a wooden fortress was the settlement Čelákovice, which was first mentioned in 1290 as a royal town. By 1300, a stone fortress was built to replace the old system. Until the 19th century Čelákovice was a fishing and farming community town. Importance was the basket -making trade from 1850.

After the construction of the railway began in 1900, the industrialization. 1903 founded Václav Červinka an agricultural machinery factory, which later became the company Červinka and Čihák emerged. Three years later, the Akkumulatorenfabik Stabenov which today operates under Kovohutě. In 1910 the machine tool factory Volman, the later TOS. In 1937 a straightening of the river of Elbe, where the Elbe island was dropped and the bathroom was extinguished by it. Between 1945 and 1989 created residential developments in bricks. In Čelákovice there is a barrage of the Elbe.
