Célestin Gaombalet

Célestin Leroy Gaombalet ( * 1941 (?) ) Was 2003-2005 Prime Minister of the Central African Republic.

Political career

Gambolat was Director General of the Central African Development Bank ( Banque de Développement d' Afrique Centrale ) in Brazzaville and the Banque Populaire Maroco - Centrafricaine in Bangui. He has no party affiliation and until 2003 never a leading position in the civil service had.

On 12 December 2003 he became prime minister than his predecessor Abel Goumba dismissed first and then Vice President of President François Bozizé was. The President belonged to his Cabinet as Secretary of Defense. In September 2004, the President dismissed the government and appointed Gambolat with the formation of a new cabinet. After the introduction of a new constitution and Bozizé re-election on 11 June 2005, he handed in his resignation to compete for his new position as President of the Parliament. Parliament had a few days earlier elected him with 78 votes to 18.
