CELPE-Bras

CELPE -Bras ( Certificado de Proficiência em Língua Portuguesa para Estrangeiros ) is the name of the only officially recognized language certificate in Brazil by the Brazilian Ministry of Education ( Ministério da Educação do Brasil - MEC) for the Portuguese language ( Brazilian Portuguese). It serves Brazilian and international institutions for verification of the Portuguese language skills of non- Portuguese-speaking foreigners. On CELPE -Bras exam all non- Portuguese-speaking foreigners can participate, who have reached the age of 16 and have the appropriate basic education. The language competence identification takes place on four levels: " Certificado intermediario " ( Intermediate I ); " Certificado intermediario Superior " (Intermediate level II); " Certificado Avançado " ( Advanced I ), "Certificado Avançado Superior " ( Advanced II ).

In February and August of each year, the Ministry published the tender for the audit and the appropriate schedule. Enrolment takes place exclusively via the Internet at the following link of the Ministry. In Germany, Friedrich -Schiller- University Jena is entrusted with the implementation of the CELPE - Bras- test of MEC. In Austria, the Department of Romance Languages ​​at the University of Salzburg is responsible.
