Centerville is a city in Anoka County in the U.S. state of Minnesota. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 3,202.
Geography
Centre Ville is located in the north of the metropolitan Minneapolis -Saint Paul. Located west of the city are the two lakes Peltier Lake and Centerville Lake. The Interstate 35E runs to the east of the city. According to the United States Census Bureau, the area of the city is 6.2 square kilometers, of which almost 0.7 square miles of water.
History
Centerville was settled mid-19th century by French-Canadian immigrants and established in 1954 as a place ( officially founded August 11, 1857 ). The name arose because of its central location between St. Paul, Stillwater and Anoka. Also German immigrants settled in Centerville. Therefore, the place originally divided into two regions: the West, where many German had settled and the French-influenced town center.
Larger population growth did not occur until the end of the 20th century. Was exceeded in the 1990 census with a population of 1633 for the first time limit of one thousand, 2000, the city already counted 3202 inhabitants.
