The Central Bank of Brazil (Portuguese: Banco Central do Brasil, BCB) is a Brazilian federal authority.

It is integrated in the national financial system in Brazil and bound to the Ministry of Finance. Like other central banks around the world, the BCB is responsible as the leading authority for monitoring the monetary stability of the national currency, the Real. The BCB receives the powers of three different institutions: by the Superintendence of money and credit, the Superintendencia because Moeda e do Crédito, ( SUMOC ), the Banco do Brasil and from the Treasury.

The central bank was established on 31 December 1964, with the enactment of Law No. 4595th
