Centre for European Policy

The Centre for European Policy ( CEP ) is a "think tank", the legislative proposals of the European Union evaluated based on regulatory criteria.

Founded in 2006 under the umbrella of the Foundation Governance, the CEP is based in Freiburg. It is headed by Luder Gerken, Chairman of the Foundation governance and the Friedrich- August-von - Hayek -Stiftung. The Board of Trustees of the CEP work alongside Roman Herzog also Leszek Balcerowicz, Frits Bolkestein and Hans Tietmeyer with.

Objectives and activities

The CEP it is working at the interface between science, politics and the public with the aim at EU level to strengthen oriented towards freedom and market economy policies, but to limit regulation and red tape on the compulsory measure.

It beats as a competence center the bridge between the European Union policy and its perception and monitoring in Germany. In dialogue with science, politics, media and the public, it develops strategies and concepts for the economic policies of the EU, accompanied the current European political project, constructive and independent, and creates transparency and awareness of European policy and its effects in Germany.

Thus, the CEP is to inform the public about developments at EU level and their impact and identify concrete opportunities for action. It also provides opinions and advises politicians across party lines to economically relevant EU policies. The regulatory principles of a free market economy and thereby form the scientific basis.

The CEP is understood as integration friendly and in 2011 the Network European Movement Germany joined.

Background - Foundation Governance

The Centre for European Policy is the European policy think tank, the Foundation's governance. The Foundation strives to maintain and timely development of the regulatory tradition of the Freiburg School, how they justified by Walter Eucken, deepened significantly by Friedrich August von Hayek and Ludwig Erhard was politically implemented.
