Cepagatti

Cepagatti is a 10,510 inhabitants and 30.34 km ² comprehensive community near Pianella and Chieti and is located in the province of Pescara.

Borders the following municipalities: Chieti, Pianella, Rosciano, San Giovanni Teatino Spoltore.

Geography

The area is characterized by many hills. The village is situated about 20 km from Pescara and 7 km from Chieti. The village is situated at about 145 meters above sea level, but the amount varies 100-175 meters. Cepagatti bordered to the northwest by the municipality of Pianella, to the south Rosciano, to the east of Chieti and northeast to the municipality of Spoltore.

History

The name " Cepagatti " has an unclear origin. There are several options in this regard. Some argue that the name of the village is derived from the Latin " pagus Captus ", others think of " pagus Teatis ", which is also borrowed from the Latin. The first documented historical origins of the village date from 1436, when Isabella di Lorena, wife of Renato d' Anjou, a fief of the Cepagatti family gave a noble family from Chieti.
