Ceramic Pin Grid Array

The Ceramic Pin Grid Array ( CPGA ) is a package type of electronic chips, such as processors.

The semiconductor chip is fixed on a thermally conductive ceramic support may be passed over and through which the signal and data lines to a raster (array) of needle-like contacts ( pins). In general, the carrier is mounted with its contacts into a corresponding socket.

Distributed processors with CPGA as carriers are, for example, the first generation of Intel Pentium processors, the Socket A versions of the AMD Athlon ( Thunderbird only ) and the Duron family.
