Cerner Corporation is an American company from North Kansas City, Missouri. It was founded in 1979 and develops information technology for the healthcare sector. The global company employs approximately 10,000 people. The shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange NASDAQ NASDAQ -100.

History

Cerner was founded in 1979 as a PGI & Associates through the three work colleagues Neal Patterson, Cliff Illig and Paul gorup, the then Arthur Andersen left to start his own company. In 1982 they brought with PathNet ® out the first product, which was used for the first time at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A few years later, Cerner was able to secure a total of $ 1.5 million venture capital from the First Chicago Capital Corporation, thus driving the company's development.

In 1986, the IPO of Cerner in a generated sales of just 17 million dollars. As early as 1992 the turnover reached the mark of 100 million dollars and rises to 2005 to more than a billion dollars.
