Certificate of authenticity

A Certificate of Authenticity (English Certificate of Authenticity) is a seal or sticker which is to prove the authenticity of products. Software COAs often contain a license number to prove that it is an original program. COAs typically provide no right of use ( license) for the software. COAs often also occur in the fashion and art industry.

Authenticity certificates usually contain a description, the date of production and the name of the producer of the certified product. Frequently on COAs and contact details are stated on the manufacturer.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall sold so-called wallpeckers parts of the wall with certificates of authenticity, which should prove the origin of the fragments.
