Česká Ves

Česká Ves ( German: Böhmischdorf ) is a municipality with an area of 24.5 km ² and a population of 2,500 and is located in Okres Jeseník (Czech Republic).

Geography

The village borders the northern part of the Altvater Mountains and runs at an altitude of 400 meters along the river Bela, direction Mikulovice and Polish border. To the south, the Zlatý Chlum rises (Gold Mountain).

History

The first written record comes from the year 1416, presumably because the hermit was still the place Walter village ( Waltherovici ), among which was already mentioned in 1284. Bohemian village was owned by the Wroclaw bishops and their dominants from Freiwaldau. Due to the gold mining the number of inhabitants rose steadily. The biggest change was told the village by building the chain factory in 1894. On 1 December 1930, the municipality had 2,631 inhabitants Böhmischdorf, on May 17, 1939 2408 and 22 May 1947 were 1,636 residents. The Germans were expropriated in 1945 and sold.
