CEVA rail

The railway line Cornavin -Eaux -Vives - Annemasse, short CEVA is the end 2017Vorlage: Future / connect in 3 years the French border town Annemasse with the Geneva 's Cornavin Train Station. The project envisages after Champel, Carouge and Lancy to the SBB train station Geneva -Cornavin an extension of the existing line between Eaux- Vives Annemasse and the terminus Eaux- Vives addition.

Benefit

The CEVA bridges a gap between the French and the Swiss railway network in the Canton of Geneva. The idea for it was already around 1880. In 1912, a contract between the Canton of Geneva and the Swiss Federal Railways was signed which provided for the realization of a rail link between Cornavin and Annemasse, but was never put into action. Was the former line had been planned, nor, in general, railway fever of the late 19th century, which is under construction connection to help solve the 21st century as a sort of Geneva underground the existing traffic problems of the city of Geneva. Is also expected by the year 2020 with an increase in population by 20%. On April 1, 2013, the traffic between Annemasse Chêne -Bourg has been set for the duration of the construction work.
