ČEZ Aréna is a multi-purpose hall in the Ostrava district Zábřeh. It is primarily used for ice hockey, but also for concerts. The hall, which opened in 1986, is the home arena of the HC Vitkovice Steel.

History

1979 was passed by the city of Ostrava to build a cultural and sports center. Here, the former Cultural and Sports Palace, which served as a multi-purpose arena since its construction in 1986 was born. At the Ice Hockey World Championship for Men 2004, the Sports Palace for approximately 690 million Kč has been completely refurbished and renamed to CEZ Arena. Owner is the corporation Aréna Vitkovice as, whose majority shareholder is the City of Ostrava. The complex today also includes a hotel, a more multi-purpose hall and a football stadium.
