CFCY-FM

CFCY 95.1FM is a private radio station in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Iceland, Canada. It broadcasts a current American Country music format. The station is operated by Maritime Broadcasting System. The program is broadcast on the frequency 95.1 MHz FM, and fed into the digital TV cable network and as a live stream on the Internet.

History

The station was founded by Canadian radio pioneer Keith Rogers on August 15, 1924 under the name 10AS. 1925 from 10AS CFCY on the frequency 960 kHz, which in 1931 changed to 580 kHz and 1933 kHz to 630. The station was known as " The Friendly Voice of the Maritime ". Due to the central location of the transmitter, reached the AM signal parts of Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec and New England, and many other coastal regions. Two years after the death of Keith Rogers fulfilled his wish and his family founded in 1956 the TV channel CFCY TV on the island. On 24 March 2006, the station began to broadcast on 95.1FM.
