CFS Leitrim

Canadian Forces Station Leitrim, (in short: CFS Leitrim ), is an important military base of the Canadian Forces. The base is located near the town of Leitrim, Ontario, Canada. The nearest large city is Ottawa, the approximately twelve kilometers is the base. The plant will employ encryption and decryption of messages and other communication devices are carried out for government institutions of Canada. These include the Communications Security Establishment Canada, the National News Agency and the Canadian Forces. The plant is part of the worldwide network Echelon Network, which also includes the USA, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand belong.

History

Today's CF Leitrim station was completed in 1941 just south of Ottawa, of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals.

Function

1946 was the military personnel strength at the base at 75 Currently stationed several hundred soldiers and civilian employees there. The station enables and secures the communication between the following centers and the allies of the Echelon network:

  • Canadian Forces Information Operations Group Headquarters ( CFIOGHQ )
  • Canadian Forces Network Operation Centre ( CFNOC )
  • Canadian Forces Signals Intelligence Operations Centre ( CFSOC )
  • Joint Information and Intelligence Fusion Centre ( JIIFC ) Detachment
