Name

CGI stands originally for the French name en Gestion et Informatique Conseillers, which can be translated as advisor to management and IT. As an English corporate language was, the company has the Backronym Consultants to Government and Industry given as the official English name ( consultant to government and industry).

History

  • Serge Godin founded CGI in Quebec, Canada in 1976.
  • Since 1990, CGI is also represented in Germany.
  • In 2004, CGI the majority of American Management Systems ( AMS),
  • 2010 followed by the acquisition of Stanley, Inc.
  • In August 2012, CGI Group has taken over the UK IT services provider Logica and became the fifth- largest IT service providers worldwide.
