Chaahat - moments of love and pain (Hindi: चाहत cāhat; German: desire ) is a Hindi film directed by Mahesh Bhatt in the year 1996.

Action

Shambu and his son Roop Rathore ( Shahrukh Khan) are Rajasthani folk singers and earn a living as an entertainer in five-star hotels in Jaipur.

The tragedy begins when Shambus constant cough is diagnosed as throat cancer. Roop decides that they need to move to Bombay in order to provide the father medically better. In the big city Roop is happy. He met the hotel owner Ajay Narang know who offers him a job as a singer. On the road, a mysterious woman saves him, in front of a speeding car. She introduces herself as Zindagi ( means life ) before and disappears shortly after. Roop is fascinated by her and falls in love with her, but his father has already arranged a marriage for Roop. He is also unhappy. However, the chosen one is pooja, it is the woman who rescued Roop. Everything is perfect, but the problems start when Roop needs money to pay for his father's surgery.

Ajay's sister Reshma arrogant falls in love with Roop. In order to fulfill her her greatest desire to have Roop for themselves, Narang Roop wants to completely commit. Since Roop needs the money, he says from the wedding and enters Reshmas services. This is now trying to seduce Roop by any means. Reshmas obsession of Roop comes to a head more and more. At the end Roop has steadfastly against Reshmas and Ajay enforce entitlement mentality and get rid of them.
