Chab Chab
A Chab chab is a jewel, pinned wealthy Tibetans on their clothes, mostly below the right shoulder. It consists of a brooch -like main portion to which by means of thin chains hanging utensils. Among these are mainly tools for personal hygiene, such as a Pinzentte, a spoon for cleaning ears, a toothpick and small knives for manicure.
Manufacturing and materials
Most Chab chab are worked in silver, rarely do you find them made of gold or base metals. The brooch -like main portion to which a chain is attached to the top with eyelet, was made in repoussé with additional engravings, while the appendages were mostly made in cast iron work with later decorative engravings.
