Chahar Province

The Chahar Province ( Цахар, Chinese察哈尔/察哈尔, Pinyin Chahar ), also under the name Chaha'er, Chakhar or Qahar known (abbr.察, Chá ), was a province of China in the years 1928-1952, most of which was located on the territory of modern inner Mongolia and Hebei. She was named after the Mongolian tribe of the Chahar. Their capital city was Zhangjiakou, which 1936/37-1945 was also the capital of the Japanese puppet state Mengjiang under the old name Kalgan.
