Chain tool

The Chain (also Chain Tool ) is a tool that can be opened and closed by bicycle chains without chain lock. The name is misleading because it is not riveted; the tools push out only the chain pin in the chain or out of it. There are on the market only a tool that really riveted chains; this is the Rohloff Revolver manufacturer Rohloff be "x 3/32" machined with the circuit chains of size 1/2.

There are many different types, including very small tools for repairs on the go ( multifunctional tool ). Several high-grade models have a replaceable head pin, as this will bend easily if not handled correctly.

If you use a chain again later, it is recommended that the bolts do not quite push out, but to leave it in the outer flap.

With unsuitable tools easy assembly errors can occur, such as damage to the seat bolt in the tabs or insufficient bolt supernatant. This allows the chain to break.

Previously circuit chains were always riveted because the manufacturing tolerances were too big few decades ago, just insert the pins. To this end, the bike was placed on the workbench and opened or closed by means of a steel pad as well as punches and grains.
