Chajim Fürst

Heinrich Ruben Chaim Prince (* 1592 in Copenhagen, Denmark, † March 26, 1653 in Altona ) was a merchant and court Jew in Hamburg. Born in Copenhagen, he moved permanently to Altona in 1612, where he was active in addition to his commercial activities in the Jewish community. His extended family includes Glückel of Hamelin, who reported in her memoirs about him as an "honest and humble " man. He was his son Solomon was ruler of the community later. With a capacity of 10,000 rix-dollars he was also the richest member of the Ashkenazi community in Altona. Glückel refers approximately to the year 1647th His grave in the Jewish cemetery inscription King Street in Altona stating that he was " of noble lineage ".
