Chalk 's International Airlines (formerly Chalk 's Ocean Airways ) was founded in 1919 by Arthur B Chalk and until the 30th September 2007, the oldest existing airline in the United States. At this time the headquarters of the airline was in Miami before it a short time later, in 1926, was transferred to the headland Watson Iceland.

Flight operations

Until the termination of flight operations more than 50 % of the passengers were from tourists who were flown to sunny beaches and players havens. So were next to the Bahamas also targets such as Paradise Iceland to the main destinations of the Company. After the terrorist attacks in 2001, however, water take-offs and landings were banned, so Chalk 's Ocean Airways was forced to build on the Fort Lauderdale airport a base. In September 2005, Chalk 's Ocean Airways was able to start seaplane operating out of Miami again.

15 pilots flew two Grumman G- 73T Turbo Mallards, another (built in 1947) crashed due to inadequate maintenance and lack of supervision on the part of the FAA by termination of an airfoil on 19 December 2005 on the way to the Bahamas near Miami Beach from the water. In the tragic accident two crew members and 18 passengers were killed.

The U.S. Department of Transportation revoked the pilot's license on 30 September 2007.

Chalk 's claimed to belong to the oldest continuously operated airline in the world, started with start of flight operations in 1917 and the commencement of air in February 1919 and interrupted the operations are only conducted for three years during the Second World War, two days during Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and eleven months because of the accident on 19 December 2005. the title of the oldest continuously operated airline KLM is awarded from the Netherlands in general.
