Chang Chun-hsiung

Chang Chun- hsiung (Chinese张俊雄/张俊雄, Pinyin Zhang Junxiong ) ( born March 23, 1938) is a Taiwanese politician (Democratic Progressive Party ).

Life

Chang Chun- hsiung studied law at the National Taiwan University and graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor of Laws. He defended the protesters as an advocate of the " Kaohsiung Incident ", a rally for a democratization of Taiwan in 1980. Between 1982 and 1986 he was president of the YMCA. Chang Chun- hsiung and his first wife Hsu Jui- ying have four children. 2007, the marriage ended in divorce and he married A Chu -ying.

Policy

Chang was from October 2000 to February 2002 and again from May 2007 to May 2008 Prime Minister and thus head of government of the Republic of China on Taiwan. In 2000 he was the first Prime Minister, who has been asked by the Progress Party.

He was a founding member of the Democratic Progressive Party and 1986-2000 Member of the Central Committee of the party executive.

Between 1983 and 2000 he was a deputy in the Legislative Yuan.

In the presidential elections of 2000, he led the successful campaign of Chen Shui -bian. After the election, he would Secretary-General of the Office of the President.

From 2005 to 2007 he was president of the " Straits Exchange Foundation ".
