Chaotian Temple

The chaotian Temple (also Chaotien temple; Chinese:朝天宫) in Beigang ( Chinese:北港), Yunlin County, Taiwan, the goddess Mazu is dedicated. Built in 1694, it has become one of the most important Mazu temple in Taiwan and is known for its extravagant temple architecture. He is visited by over a million pilgrims annually.

History

1694 brought a monk the goddess Mazu from mainland China to Taiwan and founded today's chaotian temple in Beigang.
