Chapacuran languages
Chapacura - Wanham is an indigenous American language family of South America, which consists of only five languages and is threatened with extinction. Originally, these languages were distributed in northeast Bolivia and in adjacent areas of Brazil.
Maybe they are related to the arawakischen languages.
They are subdivided as follows ( in square brackets is always the ISO 639-3 code specified):
- Guapore group: ITENE (also Moré ) [ ite ] ( extinct)
- Kabixí [ xbx ] (100 speakers)
- Oro Win [ orw ] (approximately 5 Speaker)
- Pakaásnovos [ pav ] (approx. 1,800 speakers; Also: Wari ')
- Torá [ trz ] ( 40 speakers)
Besides the ITENE, which was also spoken in Bolivia, all these languages are spoken in Brazil.
