The Igreja de São Pedro de Balsemão ( Capela de São Pedro also de Balsemão ) lies on the southern edge of the city of Lamego in Portugal. A façade from the 17th century covered a strongly converted, Visigothic in origin, however chapel dating from the 7th century, which is believed to be the oldest in Portugal.

For the old constituent part of the running in Visigothic art cuboid front side of the nave with its lateral wall approaches and the later but increased again filled horseshoe arch at the entrance to the chancel.

The supporting now smaller inner arch supported in the lower part of the set of columns and frieze above retracted into the wall association fighters consoles. The ship laterally delimiting posterior wall tongues have the same console. The reliefs of the four brackets are made of diamonds, deaf- changing and circular strokes. They are reminiscent of the decoration of the Iron Age sites of the Castro culture. An altar pillars with relief cross found as a building material in an adjoining room use. In the small stocky ship the walls suggest the reuse of Roman materials. Noteworthy is the sarcophagus of Bishop of Porto Alfonso Pires, who died in 1362. It is decorated with bas-reliefs. The reclining figure is raised by two angels.
