Charlene Soraia

Charlene Soraia (* in Sydenham, London) is a British folk singer.

Career

Soraia learned to play on the instrument her father's guitar at the age of five years. Three years later she made ​​her first appearance in public. After her schooling she was - although self-taught - the entrance examination at the BRIT School. During this time she took first invitations as guest musician by artists such as Stephen Fretwell, Howard Elliot Payne, Kami Thompson and Jon Allen. She joined the band Retrospect and 2006 appeared under the title Lemonade first EP. From 2008, she denied again solo performances and it appeared in the same year two more EPs. With Daffodils & Other Idylls it reached # 1 on the UK Folk Charts on iTunes.

The commercial breakthrough came in the fall of 2011 with a cover version of the hit Wherever You Will Go, originally recorded by the American rock band The Calling of 2001, which she recorded for an advertising campaign of the British Teeherstellers Twinings. The debut album Moonchild appeared in early December 2011 but did not progress beyond number 83 on the charts.
