Charles Gonthier, Prince of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen

Karl Günther von Schwarzburg- Sondershausen ( born August 7, 1830 in Arnstadt, † March 28, 1909 in White Deer at Dresden), the last Prince of Schwarzburg- Sondershausen was during the period 17 July 1880 to his death.

Life

Karl Günther was the son of Prince Günther Friedrich Carl II of Schwarzburg- Sondershausen and his first wife Marie of Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt. He married on June 12, 1869 Princess Marie of Saxe- Altenburg Gasparine ( born June 28, 1845 in Munich, † July 5, 1930 in Special Hausen ).

Karl Günther attended the University of Bonn and subsequently joined the Prussian Army. Here he took part in 1866 at the German War, then came to the officers à la suite of the army and was eventually promoted on 18 September 1886 General of Infantry.

He took over on 17 July 1880, the government of his father, who ordered the crown prince to succeed due to an eye condition. Honors

In honor of the Prince, the Prince Karl Günther monument exists. The monument at Mitre was built on the initiative of the Thuringian Forest Association 1911-1912. Karl Günther was also since September 24, 1889 Chief of the 3rd Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 71 and Knight of the Black Eagle, the Order of St. Hubert and Honorary Knights of St. John.
