Charles Macintosh

Charles Macintosh ( born December 29, 1766 Glasgow, † July 25, 1843 ) was a Scottish chemist and inventor of the eponymous waterproof raincoat Mackintosh.

Macintosh succeeded in its chemical factory to Crossbacket in Glasgow in 1820 for the first time the appearance of lead sugar. In 1823 he developed one named after him, shown with the help of rubber and particularly used to coats, waterproof garment fabric. In 1825, he improved the manufacture of Prussian blue and invented in the same year, the steel preparation by annealing of iron in hydrocarbon gas.
