Charles McGinnis

Charles McGinnis ( McGinnis Charles English, born October 4, 1906 in Kansas City, † April 29, 1995 in Peoria, Arizona) was an American high jumper and pole vaulter.

In 1928, he was with his respective personal best of 1.956 m and 4.11 m at the U.S. Championship second in the high jump and fourth in the pole vault and thus qualified in both disciplines for the Olympic Games in Amsterdam. He was seventh in the high jump with 1.88m. In the pole vault, he was with two other athletes who had crossed 3.95, behind Sabin Carr (4.20 m) and William Droegemueller ( 4.10 m ). In the jump-off for the bronze medal to McGinnis was able to beat the Canadians Victor Pickard and his compatriot Lee Barnes.
