Life

The son of Russian-Jewish immigrants, grew up in Brooklyn and started already at a young age to write. He found in his neighborhood friends with whom he discussed the work of young writers such as Arthur William Symons. His own early poems are influenced by Imagism, his prose can recognize the influence of James Joyce.

He studied history, he quickly gave up in favor of a law school, even though his life he had a strong interest in history. He became a lawyer, gave this profession but after a few weeks also again.

Reznikoff printed and published his works in themselves, but did not care about their dissemination.
