Charles Ritchie Russell, Baron Russell of Killowen

Charles Ritchie Russell, Baron Russell of Killowen, PC ( * January 12, 1908, † 23 June 1986) was a British lawyer and as Lord Justice member of the House of Lords.

Life

Russell was born the only son of Frank Russell and his wife Mary Emily Ritchie. His paternal grandfather was Charles Russell, Baron Russell of Killowen, who was also Lord of Appeal in Ordinary and Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, while his maternal grandfather, the politician Charles Thomson Ritchie was.

1962 Russell was appointed to the Privy Counciler and in the same year a judge of the Court of Appeal, a position which he held until 1975. On September 30, 1975, he was appointed as Baron Russell of Killowen, of Killowen in the County Down in the House of Lords. Russell was a good friend of Richard Wilberforce, Baron Wilberforce.
