Charles Tannock

Charles Tannock ( born September 25, 1957 in Aldershot, Hants ) is a doctor and since 1999, an MEP for the Conservative Party for London in the European People's Party.

Medical career

Between 1976 and 1980 Charles Tannock studied medicine at the University of Oxford, Balliol College and graduated with a BA ( Hons. ) from. At the University Hospital of the Hospital Middlesex, London University, he earned from 1980 to 1983 the MB ( Bachelor of Medicine ) and the BS (Bachelor of Surgery ). In 1983, the MA at the University of Oxford. In 1988 he became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and worked from 1995 to 1999 as Chief Psychiatrist and Honorary Lecturer at the University Hospital and Medical School, London.

He has published numerous papers in the field of psychiatry, including to anxiety disorders, Tourette 's syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Policy

From 1998 to 2000 Charles Tannock was a member of the municipal council of Kensington and Chelsea. Since 1999 he is a member of the European Parliament with the following tasks and responsibilities: Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Substitute for the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, Deputy Chairman of the Subcommittee on Human Rights and Deputy Chairman of the Delegation to the EU- Ukraine.

In the period 2009-2014 Tannock is Vice Chairman of the Delegation for relations with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. As he is a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Subcommittee on Human Rights and in the D- CLDelegation in the EU-Chile Joint Parliamentary Committee Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of Europe and Latin America. As deputy Tannock the Subcommittee on Security and Defence in the delegation to the Parliamentary Cooperation Committee EU-Ukraine and the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly EURO- NEST.

Awards

Charles Tannock 2000 was a freeman of the City of London.
