Charles Wells Russell

Charles Wells Russell ( born July 22, 1818 in Sistersville, Tyler County, Virginia (now West Virginia), † November 22, 1867 ) was a lawyer and prominent Confederate politician during the American Civil War. He was a member of the Democratic Party.

Russell represented Virginia in 1860 at the Democratic National Convention. When Virginia lost in 1861 broke away from the Union, he was elected to the Provisional Konföderiertenkongress and later in the 1st and 2nd Konföderiertenkongress.

He died in 1867 and was subsequently buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Woodlawn, Maryland.
