Charlie McMahon

Charlie McMahon (born 19 July 1951 in the Blue Mountains near Sydney; native Charles Horace McMahon ) is an Australian didgeridoo player.

He founded the didgeridoo world music group Gondwanaland. He was one of the first musicians without Aboriginal ancestors, who became known as a professional didgeridoo player.

Developments

In 1995, McMahon developed by him in 1981 Didjeribone to market, a sliding didgeridoo, in which the pitch can be changed similar to a slide trombone. The name is a synthesis of the words didjeridu ( in its original spelling) and Trombone (English for trombone). Despite a growing number of different technical designs of sliding didgeridoo in the market Didjeribone is due to its ease of handling, particularly in professional didgeridoo players still so popular that it now appears in a further edition.

1997 Charlie McMahon developed together with Peter Paisley, the face- bass, a microphone system for didgeridoos, where the sound inside of the mouth is taken with a seismic sensor. Resulting synthetic sounding sound structures.
