Charlie Simmer

Charlie Robert Simmer ( born March 20, 1954 in Terrace Bay, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who from 1974 to 1988 for the California Seals, Cleveland Barons, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League and for Eintracht Frankfurt played in the hockey league.

Career

As a junior he played in the OHA for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Simmer was drafted in the NHL Amateur Draft 1974 Round 3 as the 39th of the California Seals. In the same year he was drafted in the WHA by the Cleveland Crusaders in round 2 as 26, but never played in the WHA. After two streaky years with the Seals, the team moved to Cleveland. Simmer spent most of his career with the Los Angeles Kings, where he as a left winger in the infamous " Triple Crown Line" with Marcel Dionne and Dave Taylor ( both lead the Kings in games and points to ) played. Simmer had two seasons with 56 goals after the other and was a three-time NHL All-Star. In 1986 Simmer won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.

Overall Simmer scored 711 points (342 goals and 369 assists) in 712 NHL games.

1988/89 he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt ( Frankfurt Lions today ) in the former Hockey League.

1990/91 he was still a season in the IHL worked for the San Diego Gulls as player-coach before his farewell game ended his career the following season.
