Charlotte Ander

Charlotte Ander, native of Charlotte Andersch, ( born August 14, 1902 in Berlin, † August 5, 1969 ibid ) was a German actress of the silent film and early sound era.

Life

Charlotte Andersch was born as the daughter of actor couple Rudolf Andersch and Ida Perry in Berlin. After she completed her education at the Berlin State Theater, followed first engagements in operettas and from 1920 role offers at several Berlin theater stages. Her film career began also in 1920 with the film " The Last Hour " and " Danton " ( 1921). Numerous leading roles in silent films and early talkies with screen sizes such as Emil Jannings, Marlene Dietrich and Hans Albers followed.

They celebrated their biggest success in 1933 with the role of the records clerk Nina in " A song goes round the world " at the side of the then-known singer Joseph Schmidt and her mother Ida Perry. The year 1933 brought a kind of turning point in her career as an actress. The Nazis regarded as not " purebred ", she moved for a short time to England, where she stood for two film projects before the camera. After role offers stayed away in England, she returned despite difficult conditions to Germany, where she was allowed to work limited, also an opportunistic joining the NSDAP since 2 May 1933, does nothing for them.

After the war, Charlotte Ander again worked as an actress at the theater in Baden -Baden and Berlin. Her film work, she took until 1950 with the DEFA film Benthin family again.
