Life

Charlotte was the daughter of Jacques de Beaune- Semblançay and his wife Gabrielle de Sade. She was maid of honor at the Queen Mother Catherine de Medici before it was in 1574 maid of honor at her daughter, the Queen of Navarre Margaret of Valois. 1579 married Charlotte de Beaune- Semblançay in Paris Simon Fizes, comte de Sauve. After his death she married in 1584 François de La TREMOILLE, marquis de Noirmoutier. The marriage went forth a son: Louis de La TREMOILLE. In the period from 1572 to 1577 Charlotte was the official mistress of the King of Navarre and later the French King Henry IV during the relationship with him, she also had a love affair with François- Hercule de Valois - Angoulême, duc d' Alençon, brother of Henry III. of France, whose rivalry they exploited in their favor. She had numerous lovers, including Henri I de Lorraine, duc de Guise, Duke of Épernon and Lord of Avrilly.
