Chas Chandler

Bryan " Chas " Chandler ( born December 18, 1938 in Newcastle, † July 17, 1996 ) was a British musician, producer and manager of various bands.

He began his career as a bass player in a duo with Alan Price. As the lead singer Eric Burdon, Hilton Valentine, guitarist and drummer John Steel came to, they called themselves The Animals and went on to become a successful rock band of the 1960s.

After separation of the group in 1966, Chas Chandler built up with the manager of the Animals, Michael Jeffery, the Jimi Hendrix Experience. It was he who found the other musicians establishing the Jimi Hendrix Experience. It was Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums. With the JHE Chandler produced two albums.

In addition, managed and produced it twelve years the English rock group Slade. During this time, Chandler bought IBC Studios and directed them for four years. In addition, he founded Barn Records. Later, he helped in the construction and development of the Newcastle Arena, a sports and entertainment hall with 10,000 seats.

Chandler died in 1996 of heart failure.
